what is a level 4 qualification?
A Level 4 qualification in Microneedling and Chemical Peels is an advanced, regulated vocational qualification aligned to National Occupational Standards (NOS). It certifies that a practitioner can safely, competently and ethically deliver higher-risk aesthetic treatments.

Level 4 sits above entry-level skin care training and is increasingly recognised as the minimum standard for advanced non-surgical procedures. It reflects national benchmarks for client and practitioner safety, treatment planning and clinical decision-making, risk management and complication awareness, and consistent, outcome-driven practice.
This qualification ensures treatments are delivered within a structured, auditable and professionally accountable framework, in line with growing regulatory and licensing expectations.

3 reasons to become level 4 qualified
why pursue a level 4 qualification?
Rapid growth in non-surgical cosmetic procedures has highlighted significant safety concerns, particularly where treatments are delivered by underqualified or unregulated practitioners. This has led to increased pressure for formal licensing and regulation, a widening divide between medical and non-medical practitioners, and greater demand for nationally recognised competency frameworks.

Client Safety Is Expected, Not Optional
Level 4 qualifications provide the framework to deliver higher-risk services such as Microneedling and Skin Peels as scrutiny on practioners increases.

Consistency Drives Trust and Retention
Level 4 training helps reduce variation in treatment outcomes, supporting reproducible results that build long-term client confidence.

Clear Career Progression
Level 4 creates a recognised pathway for professional development, supporting retention, credibility and progression within the aesthetics sector

CIBTAC level 4 awards
At Dermalogica, we offer two CIBTAC-endorsed Level 4 Awards, one for Microneedling, and one for Skin Peels. Both require a minimum of 120 hours, completed over the course of 12 weeks, where you will study standards, professional practice, complications management, and how to maximise results.
Completing the Level 4 Microneedling and Chemical peel treatments has improved my confidence in those services no end and this has gone on to improve the sales of those services within my business. I’m now chatting to my nail clients about microneedling or peels and starting them on their skincare journey. Which has helped improve my product sales too. The course content was easy to navigate around and understandable and the timetable was manageable. Overall I really enjoyed the level 4 courses.
Joanna Weaver
I thought the course was fantastic. The level of support I received was huge and invaluable. The level 4 microneedling qualification was difficult, but I felt supported throughout the whole 12 weeks and am so proud to have completed and passed the course. My course leader, Janelle was truly amazing, and a real credit to Dermalogica. She was professional, extremely knowledgeable, supportive and kind. Thank you Dermalogica for more incredible training!
